Summers in France

Kathryn Ireland has a knack, as we learned in Creating a Home, for transforming dated, falling-down wrecks into inviting, light-filled homes to die for. Just look at what she did with an 18th century farmhouse and vineyard in southwestern France. With Summers in France the acclaimed designer invites you inside her vacation home to see how she marries style with comfort and color—and how you can too. Glorious photography that captures the grandeur of the hideaway she calls La Castellane, the beauty of the unspoiled French countryside that surrounds it, and the hustle and bustle at the market at her town's center, along with classic French recipes, offer a taste of life at this alluring French getaway. Color photos.

Not what I expected...
April 24, 2012

From the preview, I expected more of a decorating book. This was more of a personal journal of her family. I would have preferred a little less of the sunflowers and more decorating ideas.

disappointing

I was expecting design and home ideas. Instead it is about her French country house, family and who she entertained. Not interesting to me.

Not what I expected
September 04, 2011

This book is not really about decorating and design, but about the author's take on having house-guests in her french summer home. There are some interesting parts which include some history of the little towns in France, but I wish she'd stick to the topic of decorating. It's a disappointment because I just want to see her beautiful designs, fabrics, and other homes she's touched with her beautiful taste and style.
