NOT awful!
October 19, 2011

I have to disagree with the above review. Sometimes the humble potato needs a little dressing up! I am totally captivated by most of the recipes in this book. True, there are very few photos, but if you read the recipes and the head-notes at the top of the page, you can almost envision the dish. Matter of fact, I started to get very hungry and almost salivated when I was reading. I almost got up to see if I had some of the ingredients on hand to make a certain recipe. Having grown sweet potatoes this year, I am anxious to try a few of the things like Sweet Potato Dumplings and Sweet Potato Cinnamon Cake. Mmmmm. As for regular potatoes, how about Potato Focaccia, Potato Donuts, Nacho Potato Wedges, Hot Szechwan Salt & Pepper Potatoes (using small potatoes, this makes a great company appetizer), New Potatoes with Asparagus and Prosciutto, Baked Potato Salad with Bleu Cheese Drizzle. I could go on, but I'm making myself hungry again. None of the dishes use complicated ingredients; most we have around already. I don't consider any of these recipes too fancy to use for everyday meals. Potatoes Anna is probably right down everyone's alley. Simple and delicious. There are some soups that intrigue me too. Potato and Two Leek Soup, and Celeriac & Potato Vichyssoise. If you've never had celeriac, you must try this one. It's almost like a potato, but "earthier." Ugly, but not strange tasting at all. That's about all I can write in this limited space, but if you overlook the lack of many photos, you'll definitely like the recipes here. Very diversified. Try it, you'll like it!

Awful
October 08, 2011

I saw about a dozen recipes that we would even try.I was raised on potatoes and this book takes a humble simple food and tries to make it fancy. Most recipes have hard to find items and many ingrediants. A large number have names I can't even pronounce. The book has 16 photos lumped into 2 sections of the book. This is my least favorite cookbook ever.It is a waste of money, but I'll keep it because returning is a lot of trouble.
